Researcher

Though I’m an astrophysicist these days, I have a bachelors in child psychology from Harvard. There I researched the development of empathy in young children, which very much informs Wonder Hour Workshops.

Having been drawn to the mysteries of the Universe since my childhood, I went back to school not long ago, earning a masters in physics at SFSU—while probing the mysteries of planet formation using theoretical astrophysics and computer simulations.

In Autumn 2021, I joined the Cosmology Group at USC as a PhD student, where at last I am studying what I consider one of the greatest mysteries of all — dark matter.

Teacher

With 15 years teaching experience, I just love demystifying math, physics and coding for anyone with a desire to learn.

Borrowing from my psychology background to quickly assess a student’s learning style, I work to present material in a way that is accessible. Many of my clients have unique brains—Autism, ADHD, anxiety or learning disabilities—and I am endlessly inspired by how successful they can be when accessing material in their own learning language.

I have tutored middle, high school and college math, science and coding, and have also taught in the classroom as a physics lecturer at the undergraduate level, and led laboratory courses.

Wonder Curator

What I love most in life is sharing the beauty and wonder of math, science and the Universe with others. Stepping into the flow of learning gives great joy. But it also nurtures awe and wonder, which—research indicates—can trigger empathy and a sense of well-being.

With Wonder Hour Workshops, I seek to open young minds to the awe and wonder of an astronomical perspective. This heightened point-of-view helps children comprehend the interconnectedness of all beings, as well as the majesty, uniqueness & fragility of their home planet—and the need to protect it.

Please get in touch. I would love to hear from you!

Astronomers

for Planet Earth

A grass-roots movement uniting astronomy students, educators, and scientists around the globe to share their astronomical perspective about the Earth and climate change with the public.

As a co-founder and member, I am passionate about opening young minds to the astronomical perspective—which helps children to comprehend the uniqueness, wonder and fragility of planet Earth, potentially nurturing in them a desire to take stewardship of their ‘only home.’
